Joseph C. Stemple, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, ASHAF
Professor, Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Dr. Stemple is Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Health Sciences at the
University of Kentucky. He is the author of the texts Voice Therapy: Clinical Studies (3rd ed.) and
Clinical Voice Pathology: Theory and Management (4th ed.) (Plural Publishing, Inc) as well as
research articles and text chapters related to clinical voice disorders. His current research involves
a translational study of various aspects of the aging voice including epidemiology, treatment approaches
and clinical outcomes for voice disorders, and the biology of aging laryngeal muscles.
He is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Marieke Hakkesteegt, logopedist, Ph.D.

Marieke Hakkesteegt studeerde logopedie in Utrecht en kwam terecht als klinisch logopedist op de KNO-afdeling foniatrie nadat zij een periode in twee vrijgevestigde praktijken gewerkt had. Zij bekleedde verschillende functies bij de NVLF en is medeoprichter van de landelijke Paramedische Werkgroep Hoofd-Hals Tumoren.
Zij promoveerde tot doctor aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam met het proefschrift
“Evaluation of Voice Disorders. Dysphonia Severity Index and Voice Handicap Index”.
